STEP 2:

The Closet Edit

press play

First, trust the process.

A closet edit is not about getting rid of as much as possible. It's about creating clarity. By the end of this process, you'll know what you love, what no longer serves you, what gaps exist in your wardrobe, and what you actually need to shop for moving forward.

This is the foundation of building a versatile capsule wardrobe, one where pieces mix, match, and work together effortlessly.

After a successful closet edit, your wardrobe should feel like a deep breath of fresh air. The goal isn't perfection, it's to make getting dressed feel easier again.

I promise it's one of the best feelings in the world, but it may feel messy before it feels calm. Trust the process.

the step-by-step guide to editing your closet with clarity and confidence.

THE CAPSULE ICONS CLOSET EDIT GUIDE

Before You Begin

Choose Your Approach

There is no right way to do this.

Option 1

Dedicate 1–2 hours at a time and work through your closet section by section over the course of a week.

Option 2

Set aside a weekend day and complete the process in one sitting.

This is the same process I use with my 1:1 Experience clients.

Option 3

Split the process between Saturday and Sunday.

Most importantly, choose a time when you're energetically at your best. Some people love mornings, others are night owls. The goal is to approach this process with energy, curiosity, and intention.

Set Yourself Up for Success

Before you begin:

✓ Tidy the surrounding space so you have room to work

✓ Have a full-length mirror nearby

✓ Put on your favorite music

✓ Make a cup of tea or pour a glass of wine

✓ Gather bags or boxes for donations

✓ Keep your Style Persona Workbook notes nearby for reference

Let's get started!

STEP 1: Revisit Your Style PersonaThere is no right way to do this.

Before beginning your closet edit, revisit your workbook notes and reflections. Every piece in your wardrobe should support who you are today and how you want to show up moving forward.

STEP 2: Use These Questions as Your Filter.

✓ Do I love it?

✓ Does it fit me right now?

✓ Have I worn it within the last 1–2 years?

✓ Is it in good condition?

✓ Does it support my current lifestyle?

✓ Does it align with how I want to show up?

✓ How do I feel when I wear it?

STEP 3: Start with Clothing.

I recommend editing your clothing first and leaving accessories for last.

As you work through each category, sort pieces into three piles:

KEEP

MAYBE

NO

STEP 4: Review Your MAYBE Pile.

These are the pieces you're unsure about.

Try them on.

STEP 5: Review Your NO Pile.

Now go through your NO pile and decide what should be:

Donate

Sell

STEP 6: Reorganize Your KEEP Pieces.

Once you've completed the edit, organize what remains.

STEP 7: Store Off-Season Items.

If possible, store off-season pieces elsewhere.

STEP 8: Create a Treasure Box.

Keep truly sentimental items:

Store these separately in a Treasure Box.

👉 Book a Styling Power Hour (Add-On)
If you feel stuck deciding what to keep, what to let go of, or what is actually missing, this is exactly what we can work through together in a Styling Power Hour.
